Shannon Murray is a reporter for Fox News in Dallas, Texas.
Early Life & Education
Murray grew up in DeSoto and graduated from Duncanville High School. At Duncanville High, Murray anchored the school newscast, called Eye of the Panther News. She won the state competition for broadcasting and even went on to place 2nd in nationals her senior year.
Murray credits her teacher Mrs. Nancy Noyes for encouraging her to pursue journalism in college.
She went on to graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in broadcast journalism.
In college Murray held an internship with a local news station, KXAN, and spent a summer in Los Angeles where she interned for The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She was President of her sorority, Alpha Phi.
Murray was involved with the UT television station, Texas Student Media. [2]
Career
After graduating, Murray's first job was as a reporter for Kosa in Midland/Odessa. She then moved on to KVUE in Austin, Texas. She reported on the crash at the 2014 SXSW festival that killed four innocent bystanders and injured more than 20. She reported on the story all the way through the trial where the driver was convicted of capital murder. [2]
Giant Spider
Murray was in the news in July 2017 when a giant spider crawled on her shoulder while she reported live on air.
She was hailed for her poise in dealing with the spider.
