Sam Kazemian (b. February 12, 1993) is an Iranian-American software engineer, entrepreneur, and cryptocurrency enthusiast. He is the Co-Founder and President of Everipedia, the first decentralized online encyclopedia on the blockchain. He founded the company with Theodor Forselius, Mahbod Moghadam, and Travis Moore in 2015. [5]

Early Life & Education

Sam Kazemian was born in Tehran, Iran. After moving to the United States as a child, he attended Westlake High School, where he was a cross country and distance athlete.[1] He graduated from UCLA in 2015, double-majoring in Neuroscience and Philosophy. During his tenure at UCLA, Sam was also a member of the UCLA Powerlifting team. [2]

During his last two years in college, Sam put together a homemade CPU + GPU mining rig using old desktop computers in his dormitory room to mine cryptocurrencies in 2014. [28] He mined over 50 cryptocurrencies to become more familiar with the blockchain space and find out about the changes that were occurring. He was paid in Bitcoin as a result of mining in various mining pools. [30]


In December 2014, Sam Kazemian co-founded Everipedia. He started the project in his dorm room while attending UCLA. He developed the first MVP for the project with Theodor Forselius with the aim of becoming a more modern and inclusive version of Wikipedia ; since then, Everipedia launched a blockchain network in which people can stake IQ tokens to contribute to the platform.

As President of Everipedia, Kazemian has led his team to transitioning Everipedia from an online encyclopedia to a blockchain knowledge platform. He also played a crucial role in airdropping IQ tokens to EOS token holders in 2018. In January 2018, he and Everipedia set a precedent by announcing their airdrop to the EOS genesis distribution list; the announcement was made at an EOS meetup in Seoul.[+]

His latest initiative focuses on the development of several new decentralized applications (dApps) that will function on the IQ token.[31] In December 2018, he commented on the expansion of the what is now called the IQ Network:[31]

The development of new apps powered by the IQ token is the next step in truly creating a decentralized consumer DApp network around a single token. [...] We’re very excited to build these apps using EOS.IO technology and increase the value and utility of the IQ token along with it.

In addition to working at Everipedia, Kazemian also a founding team member of LibertyBlock, a block producer operating on EOS.

Personal Life

He is an avid fan of philosophers Tyler Burge, Hillary Putnam, Slavoj Žižek as well as Bertrand Russell. Sam builds custom hardware devices to improve his work-flow, such as ergonomic keyboards. He is also an audio equipment enthusiast. [✔]
