Roy Bahat
Roy Bahat is the Head of Bloomberg Beta and Lecturer at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He is based in San Francisco.
Early Life and Education
Bahat grew up in New York City and is the son of immigrants. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School. He attended Harvard University where he earned an AB in Social Studies in 1998. Bahat went on to become a Rhodes Scholar and earned an M.Phil. in Economics from the University of Oxford.
Career
Early in his career, Bahat was an Associate at McKinsey, Senior Policy Director for the Office of the Mayor of New York City, and Director of International Strategy at NYC2012. After being unemployed for 9 months, Bahat became a VP at News Corp. In 2007, he became the President of IGN Entertainment, which he served as for five years. In 2012, he left and shortly after started Ouya, a game console company. The product was discontinued in 2015.
Bahat has been a lecturer at UC Berkeley since 2011 and teaches an annual seven-week course on media to MBA students.
In 2013 he became the Head of Bloomberg Beta, a venture firm that focuses on investing in the future of work, specifically machine intelligence.
In the past, Bahat has contributed to Hacker Noon and wrote an article titled "For founders and investors, itβs time for real talk about money."
