Education
In 1988, Newman graduated from Boston College with Bachelor of Arts with honors in English and Economics.[2]
Career
In 1995, Newman became a Pentagon Correspondent for U.S. News & World Report. He covered national security from military bases, ships, airplanes and submarines all around the world, and the Pentagon. From 2003-2010, he worked as a Chief Business Correspondent and covered the subprime bubble, the financial meltdown, the Wall Street and Detroit bailouts, the Great Recession and recovery.[2]
Since 2013, Newman has been a Columnist at Yahoo! Finance.[2]
Newman earned several awards, including the Gerald R. Ford Prize for Distinguished Reporting on National Defense.
He won awards from the National Press Club, the Society of Professional Journalists and the International Association of Firefighters.[5]
He is also the co-author of "Firefight: Inside the Battle to Save the Pentagon on 9/11" (2008) and "Bury Us Upside Down: The Misty Pilots and the Secret Battle for the Ho Chi Minh Trail" (2006).
