Rebecca Onion is an American journalist and Writer focusing on history and culture. She is based in Athens, Ohio and is a staff writer at Slate (magazine). ^[1]

Onion graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor's degree in American studies. She went on to attend University of Texas at Austin, where she received a Master's degree in American studies.

She has written for Aeon Magazine, the Boston Globe’s Ideas section, the Virginia Quarterly Review, The Atlantic‘s website, the Austin-American Statesman , among others.

Her book, Innocent Experiments: Childhood and the Culture of Public Science in the United States, was published by the University of North Carolina Press in 2016.
