Prabhu Ramamoorthy is an Indian tech worker. He resides in the United States on a temporary visa. [1] He was sentenced to prison time after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a female passenger on an airplane.

On January 3, 2018, Ramamoorthy was arrested upon landing at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport for allegedly sexually assaulting a female passenger (age 22 at the time of the incident) while she was asleep. The incident occurred aboard a Spirit Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Detroit. [1]
The woman was intoxicated and claims she woke up as Ramamoorthy was putting his fingers in her genitals and vigorously moving them, and that he stopped once she was awake. [1] Her shirt and pants were unbuttoned.
Ramamoorthy was charged with aggravated sexual abuse and held without bail after an appearance in federal court in Michigan on Thursday, January 4, 2018. [1] He was officially convicted of the crime on August 19, 2018.
On December 13, 2018, he was sentenced to 9 years in prison.
He will be deported to India after he serves his sentence.
