Pierina España (Venezuelan actress)
Pierina España (Venezuelan actress)
Pierina España [1] (b. Barcelona, Venezuela; Feb. 17, 1952) is a Venezuelan actress who had resounding success in the 1970s. Daughter of a Sicilian father and a Sicilian mother. From a young age, Pierina's great dream was to become an actress and she achieved this despite her parents' opposition. For more than 10 years she worked in the artistic world, and was even a program presenter and hostess of stellar events.
Artistic training
He began his studies at the Juana Sujo Theatre School.
He also took artistic courses and workshops in Caracas, Madrid, Rome, Lima and Paris.
Biography
Her real name is Pierina Spagna.
The beginning of Pierina's career was a bit shaky, she lacked the stage design of an artist who plays a theatrical role.
However, as the years went by, her artistic quality increased.
Little by little, she began to climb the ladder in the face of tough competition from Venezuelan artists.
She had European ancestry (many said she was born in Italy), and had to compete and prove her quality to the likes of criollos Doris Wells, Eva Blanco, Eva Moreno, Marina Baura, Mayra Alejandra, Carmen Julia Álvarez and others who were established in Venezuelan TV.
Her memorable performance alongside José Luis Rodríguez (El Puma) and Mayra Alejandra Rodríguez in the telenovela La hija de Juana Crespo in which she played José Luis' stepmother and in whose role as a young careerist she falls in love with her stepson, earned her consideration for more dramatic roles. Later on, Sangre Azul, a novel written by Julio César Mármol and José Ignacio Cabrujas, pairs him with José Luis Rodríguez and has Jean Carlo Simancas and Carmen Julia Alvarez as co-stars.
This work earned her the prestigious ACE Award in 1982, which was presented in New York as Best Actress in her leading role.
In the men's category he was taken by his co-star Jean Carlo Simancas, whose wife, Miss Venezuela 1980 Maye Brandt, received him in her absence.
The following year, 1979, Pierina starred in one of the most impressive novels on Venezuelan TV, not only nationally but internationally: Estefanía, a play created by Julio César Mármol that recalls the last years of the dictatorship of General Marcos Pérez Jiménez' government (1952-58).
Pierina plays the leading role of Estefanía Gallardo, and repeats with José Luis Rodríguez in the leading role, who plays "El Guácharo".
The telenovela broke audience records.
As a result of this success, Pierina España became one of the most sought-after artists on the small screen.
Following this success, Pierina recorded the telenovela Muñequita with the Venezuelan actor Carlos Olivier, but her excessive exposure for more than three years in a row on Venezuelan television, apparently did not allow her to achieve success in the bullfighting style telenovela, and she later retired from acting.
Return
Once she retired from acting, Pierina returned to television, this time not to act, but to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the now-defunct Radio Caracas Televisión, where a "Return of Stephanie" was made, the novel that made her famous forever.
Scenes from Estefanía were presented after 24 years, where her daughter was able to see her mother perform, something that caused her a lot of emotion.
However, the following chapters did not continue due to the low ratings she got for that moment of political diatribe in Venezuela. Eventually, Pierina returned to the world of novels on October 16, 2006, but this time not on the small screen, but on the radio. After that long wait, the star of "Estefanía" and "Sangre Azul" agreed to act again, becoming one of the main characters in the radio soap opera "Fortunata y Jacinta", performing with a great cast of artists, such as the star Marina Baura, Félix Loreto, Alicia Plaza, among others.[2]
