Pamela Shantay Turner was a 44-year-old mother of two residing in Baytown, Texas. She was fatally shot by a Houston area police officer outside her apartment complex on Monday May 13, 2019. ^{[1] [undefined] [undefined]}

Turner was known to be on medication for schizophrenia. ^[undefined]

The shooting occurred around 10:40 p.m. local time at The Brixton Apartments on Garth Road near Park Street in Baytown, Texas.

An unidentified officer was patrolling the area when he came across Turner, who he recognized from prior dealings and knew she had warrants out for her arrest. ^[undefined]

According to court records, Turner had three outstanding warrants.

Two were for criminal mischief and another was for assault resulting in bodily injury. The officer attempted to arrest Turner but she resisted so the officer used a taser. ^[undefined]

A struggle between the two ensued and Turner was able to get the officer's taser away him and tase him.

The officer then drew his duty weapon and fired multiple shots at Turner.

Turner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses stated they heard Turner shout that she was pregnant. ^[undefined]

The officer is an 11-year veteran and has been placed on administrative leave.
