Nir Kabessa

Nir Joseph Kabessa (born February 25, 1995) is an Israeli-American entrepreneur who is as the 2nd President of Blockchain at Columbia since 2018. He also co-founded Yup.

Early Life

Kabessa was born in Elai Sinai, Gaza Strip Israel to Avik and Toshu Kabessa several years before the Israeli disengagement from Gaza. Raised largely in New York, Kabessa spent the early years of his childhood in Queens, followed by Rye, New York. At the age of 15, Nir's family returned to Israel, where he attended Walworth Barbour American International School. From 2013 to 2016, Nir served in the Israel Defense Forces as a First Class Sergeant.

Career

Nir Kabessa has established himself as a leader in the blockchain community of New York City.

Kabessa participated in initial coin offerings of projects such as iExec, Basic Attention Token, and Ontology.

In the wake of this, he assembled two structures: Eden Block - a research and investment vehicle based in Tel Aviv focused on early stage startups and The Block - an international community and media publication designed to produce content and commentary.

Eden Block is partnered with entities such as Neo Global Capital, Ontology, Polyswarm, and TomoChain.

The Block has significant readership online.

Its writers have been featured on Hacker Noon, Investopedia, and Furtherfield.

In the beginning of 2018, Nir was elected as President of Blockchain at Columbia and continues to serve in this position. Shortly thereafter, Nir joined Taureon, a VC and consulting firm focused on DLT investments, as a partner. While continuing to take on these roles, he has contributed to stories on TheStreet.com and Big Think.
