Nicholas Batka is a first-year police officer for the NYPD.
He is 28 years-old and is a graduate of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
Drunk Driving Incident
At around 3 a.m. on July 16, 2016, Batka drunkenly drove his SUV into pedestrians, seriously injuring four of them.
One fatality, Andrew Esquivel was reported from the incident and another victim had her leg torn off. Batka attempted to flee the scene of his wrecked 2012 Dodge Durango.
Batka was supposed to work at 7 a.m. that morning, in which case he would have shown up to his post drunk.
Charged with DWI, he has been suspended from the force for an indefinite amount of time.
This incident and many of his pictures on Facebook, imply that he may overconsume alcoholic beverages.
