Nadine Hernandez was a Police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. She was assigned to the rape case involving Derrick Rose as part of the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division Special Assault Section.

Nadine was married to Jeff Yip, and they have 3 children named Christian, Ryan, & Ava.

In a letter that Hernandez authored last month that was cited in federal court in Los Angeles, the detective wrote that the ability to protect the identities of alleged rape victims who come forward is 'an invaluable investigative aid to investigators.

' The letter also confirmed that the department was looking into sexual abuse allegations in connection with a rape complaint against Rose.

Nadine's letter went on to make national headlines.

Nadine was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest at her home in Whittier, California. The suicide happened before 3 P.M. on Tuesday. Police do not believe foul play was involved.
