On Friday March 9, 2018, Barber was charged with manslaughter and certain persons forbidden to possess a pistol in the shooting death of Courtlin Arrington.

Arrington was shot Wednesday March 7, 2018, as classes were dismissing for the day.

Birmingham police are calling the incident a death investigation.
