Alex Michael Ramos is a resident of Georgia. In May 2018 he was convicted of malicious wounding for his role in the beating of Deandre Harris at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Personal Life
Michael A. Ramos called himself a "Western Chauvinist" on Facebook. He is a supporter of Donald Trump and has been photographed wearing a Make America Great Again, Donald Trump campaign hat multiple times. He is also a supporter of the Confederate Flag.
Unite the Right Rally Assault
On August 12, 2017, Michael A. Ramos, Daniel Borden, Joshua Thomas King, and two other white supremacists were recorded assaulting a counter protester of the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, identified as Deandre Harris, with poles.
Michael A. Ramos later bragged about the assault on Facebook writing, "We stomped ass" and that "he was looking for a victory bash" to celebrate the beating of Deandre Harris.
Harris was left with eight staples in his head, a broken wrist and a chipped tooth.
Shaun King has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the identification of the other men in the photo who assaulted Harris.
Arrest
On August 28, 2017, Ramos turned himself in to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Ramos faces one count of malicious wounding in the attack on Deandre Harris.
Conviction
On Thursday, May 3, 2018 a Charlottesville jury found Alex Michael Ramos guilty of malicious wounding for his role in the attack on DeAndre Harris.
Jurors in Charlottesville Circuit Court went into deliberations in Alex Michael Ramos' care shortly before 3:30 p.m Thursday, May 3.
They handed down their verdict a little after 4 p.m.
The jury then considered a punishment for Ramos, which entailed possible fines and a sentencing of somewhere between five and 20 years behind bars.
The jury came back with a decision around 5:45 p.m., and recommended a six-year sentence with no fine.
