On Monday, February 5, 2018, Deputy Flick was killed and four other law enforcement were shot during an incident in Colorado Springs, Colorado. ^{[6] [5] [3]}

The incident occurred at around 4:00 p.m. during a motor vehicle theft investigation in the area of Galley and N Murray.

During the incident, officers approached a male suspect who struggled with officers and led them on a pursuit when shots were fired.
