Matt Rivers is an American journalist based in Beijing, China. He is an international correspondent for CNN. [1]

Rivers graduated with a dual degree from Syracuse University where he majored in Broadcast journalism and Spanish. [1]
Career
Since joining CNN in 2015, Rivers has covered a wide range of stories in China, including the one-on-one interview with Disney CEO Bob Iger during the opening of the Shanghai Disneyland. He played a key role covering Donald Trump's first official trip to Asia in both Beijing and Manila, and reported extensively from the Chinese-North Korean border exposing U.N. Security Council sanctions violations being committed. [1]
Rivers was also instrumental in covering the G20 summit in China's Hangzhou, the breaking financial news in Chinese stock markets in early 2016, and continuous issues of South China Sea tensions. [1]
He has also covered major breaking stories across the world including the Istanbul Ataturk Airport terror attack, the earthquake in Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture, and North Korea's ballistic missile launch.
