Matt Bruenig was a blogger for liberal think tank Demos. He writes about politics, the economy, and political theory, primarily with a focus on the set of interlocking issues that affect poor and working people. Bruenig has written for Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, The Atlantic, New Republic and Gawker.

In May 2016, Bruenig left Demos after getting into a fight on Twitter with Neera Tanden, President of the Center for American Progress. Demos says it was a mutual decision but gossip blog Gawker reports that Bruenig was fired. Bruenig is currently expecting his first child; there is a Go Fund Me to help his family make up for lost income.
