J. Matt Bodnar is an entrepreneur, angel investor, and podcaster.
Early Life & Education
Matt Bodnar was raised in Nashville, Tennessee.
He went to the University of Richmond, where he majored in Political Science, Chinese, and Business. [1]
In the fall of 2007, during his junior year, Bodnar traveled to Nanjing, China and worked as an import/export consultant for a firm called AOKY Consulting. [1] He wrote a blog discussing his experiences there.
Career
Since early 2005, Matt Bodnar has been a partner of Bodnar Investment Group.
He focuses on deal making, structuring transactions, and strategy.
He also works closely with many companies in the Food & Beverage industry, including:
Tazikis: a Mediterranean café (Board member since 2011)
Fresh Capital: a boutique real estate financial services firm (Co-founder since June 2012)
Gun.io: a medium that connects clients with freelancers (Adviser since 2014)
I Love Juice Bar: a vegetarian, gluten-free juice bar
He is also an investor in multiple companies, including ToGoOrder.com, and Bracket Computing, and Square Roots Urban Growers.
Goldman Sachs
Bodnar started his career in 2009 working at Goldman Sachs as an analyst. Working at Goldman's Interest Rate desk, he spent his time taking a two-year crash course on high-class business. [1]
After his time there, he returned to his family roots in the hospitality space.
Fresh Hospitality LLC
After returning to Nashville in 2011, Bodnar became a partner at Fresh Hospitality, an early stage investment firm that provides financial and intellectual capital for food businesses.
They branched out to new industries and he eventually became the Chairman of Fresh Technology LLC.

Bodnar is the creator and host of "The Science of Success" podcast, an evidence-based personal growth podcast. It currently has over 1 million downloads.

Bodnar was called a “Rising Restaurateur Star” by the National Restaurant Association and a “Strategy Pro” by Restaurant Hospitality Magazine. He was also named to Forbes 30 Under 30 for Food & Drink.

One of his Bodnar's favorite authors of all-time is Dr. Carol Dweck, who wrote Mindset: The New Psychology of Success.
