Mary Christine Balagtas was a filipino college student and beauty queen from Bulacan, Philippines.

She was studying at University of Regina Carmeli. Mary previously won the La Bulakenya pageant in 2009 and second pageant in 2010.

On April 5, 2017, Mary was shot dead at about 9:15 a.m. local time after opening the front door to unidentified hitmen who gave her flowers and chocolates at her home in Bulacan, Philippines.

They let off a single gunshot wound into her head then fled on a waiting motorbike. She was rushed to a local hospital as paramedics battled to stabilize her, she died inside the ambulance.

Superintendent Julio Lizardo from Plaridel police are investigating a man who had a previous relationship with Balagtas.

Witnesses have also seen the two unidentified gunmen in the neighborhood prior to her death.
