Mellman has helped guide the campaigns of a dozen U.S.

Senators, over a dozen Member of Congress, three Governors as well as numerous state and local officials.

Mellman also provided research and strategic guidance to Cesar Gaviria in his successful campaign for the Presidency of Colombia in 1990 and to the Louisiana Democratic Party in the successful effort to defeat David Duke.

He has also traveled to Russia to train members of Boris Yeltsin's inner circle in political tactics.

In addition, Mellman works with a variety of public interest organizations ranging from the Children's Defense Fund to the AFL-CIO, the Nature Conservancy, and the League of Women Voters.
