Mario Polit (born January 13, 1968) is a New York based-Actor and Lieutenant in the New York City Fire Department (FDNY)[1]. Born and raised in Queens New York, of Ecuadorian descent. Mario has over twenty-five years’ experience in film, TV, and theater under his belt[12]. His enthusiasm for acting was inspired by his older brother. His first movie role was in "The Devil's Own" with Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt. He also appeared on 'The King of Staten Island'.
Biography
Mario Polit was conceived on January 13, 1968, and nurtured in Queens New York, of Ecuadorian descent.
He joined the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) in 1999 when his brother recommended that he would be good at it.
Before joining the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), he had spent several years selling espadrilles at the store Unisa on Madison Avenue[13].
Mario Polit's biggest luck was his absence from duty on the day of the 9/11 attacks, yet his firehouse at that point, on the Upper East Side, lost nine firefighters. For the following 10 months, Polit participated in the pursuit and recuperation endeavors[13].
He is a High School Graduated.
He started taking acting classes at age 23, at HB Studios in the West Village[14]. He has featured in some couples of movies which include: The Devil’s Own (where he played the character of Young Dominican in 1997), The Sopranos (1999), the recent movie The King of Staten Island, among numerous others[15].
Career
Mario Polit officially started his career in 1997.
At the beginning of his profession, he did all positive Hispanic roles, he was a drug dealer, the prison inmate, the car thief, the rapist.
He earned his first movie role was in "The Devil's Own" with Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt[13].
His next big role was in the HBO hit show "The Sopranos ", where he played the notorious character, Jesus Rossi - The Employee of the Month that raped Dr. Melfi, played by Lorraine Bracco.
He played opposite Maggie Gyllenhaal in the film "The Great New Wonderful".
Mario has also appeared in numerous independent films and has appeared on several T.V. shows.
His television credits include "Law & Order", "SVU" and "C.I."
on NBC, "Unforgettable" on CBS, "Forever" on ABC, "Louie" on FX. HBO sitcom "Crashing" directed by Judd Apatow, and he had a recurring role on the HBO show "The Deuce". He's in Jennifer Lopez's new film "Hustlers"[16] playing detective Hernandez and he is in Judd Apatow and Pete Davidson's new movie "Staten Island" playing a firefighter named George Rivera.
