Early Life and Education
A collection of Manuel Pita's work
Pita was born and raised in Venezuela to Portuguese parents who came to the country during the oil boom during 1970s. He would move back and forth between his native country and parent's home country of Madeira. When he arrived in college, he had a choice between pursuing art or science, both subjects that he showed extreme promise in. He decided to study Computer Science and then went on to complete his PhD in Artificial intelligence and Cognitive Science from the University of Edinburgh in 2007. Following his PhD, he spent a number of years doing postdoctoral work in Complex Systems, trying to understand how nature processes information. [2]
