In 2018, Masalva got the role of the drug dealer Ramon Arellano Felix, one of the leaders of the Tijuana cartel, for the series of Netflix, Narcos: Mexico:

“Right now I am in his shoes but also in those of society, the son, the friend who was once affected by drug trafficking, violence, impunity.
That is why there is nothing but respect and empathy and from there tell this story because we all have close people who could suffer violence due to impunity and drug trafficking.”^[13]
