Mahoney Turnbull is an internationally based New Zealander who believes no tech ecosystem can exist isolated and cross-pollination + decentralisation is essential to survival and growth. She is passionate about open ecosystems unlocking new human capabilities and the potential of cryptoeconomics to further the internet and humanity.
Mahoney has a background in Technology law after graduating from Otago University with 1st Class Honours, as well as Mandarin from Fudan University and International Relations from Complutense University of Madrid . She has since committed herself to startup acceleration, digital innovation and furthering Web 3.0 .
Living in eight countries, three languages and many startup migrations at scale later, she has created momentum in early stage ventures and international expansion with a portfolio of 250+ portfolio at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise during 2015-2016. She then went through Batch 18 at 500 Startups in San Francisco, then shifting to the Europe Tech scene in 2017 where she built a new Community Partnerships arm for Europe's first equity crowdfunding platform Crowdcube alongside mentoring the next generation of startup leaders through at WeWork Labs and Google Launchpad.
She has been a global Board position at StartupBus , now focussing on how to achieve more diversity in Tech. Mahoney is also active in furthering diversity in Blockchain as a founding member of Team Block Society, which is working on setting the standards of international blockchain business. She has driven Pre-ICO pace at Etherisc, a company with a mission to decentralise the insurance industry. She has a specific interest in how blockchain can help us achieve social impact through financial inclusion, personal data sovereignty and sustainability solutions.
