Mahoney Turnbull is an internationally based New Zealander who believes cross-pollination + decentralisation is essential to survival and growth. She is passionate about @circular design and open ecosystems unlocking new human capabilities and the potential of cryptoeconomics and decentralised networks to further the internet and humanity.

Mahoney has a background in Technology law after graduating from Otago University with 1st Class Honours, as well as Mandarin from Fudan University and International Relations from Complutense University of Madrid. She has since committed herself to startup acceleration, digital innovation and furthering Web 3.0 within the blockchain space.

Living in eight countries, three languages and many startup migrations at scale later, she has created momentum in early stage ventures and international expansion with a portfolio of 250+ at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise around North America. An Alum of 500 Startups San Francisco #FinTech Batch18, she has continued to expand her presence from Asia to the US to Europe. While based in London she built out the Partnerships arm for Europe's first equity crowdfunding platform Crowdcube alongside mentoring the next generation of startup leaders through at WeWork Labs and Google Launchpad.

Diving into the blockchain ecosystem has seen Mahoney dig into a range of projects starting with Etherisc in Switzerland, a company with a mission to decentralise the insurance industry.

She then went on to lead Community at @Token Foundry, in the capital arm of ConsenSys, with the mandate of growing the token arm of the Ethereum focussed venture studio headquartered in New York. Other projects Mahoney has worked on in the Ecosystem Development capacity include O(1)Labs ^[5], Coda Protocol and her current multi-chain, infrastructure-focussed project: Blockdaemon ^[8]. She is also an adviser for Blockchain for Science^[3] and a global blockchain scout for The Reserve ^[4]. She is actively involved in @Blockchain for Social Impact, and committed to furthering the connectivity between climate, social justice and web3.

She has been a global Board Director at StartupBus, focussing on how to accelerate early stage startups and achieve more diversity in Tech. Mahoney is also active in furthering diversity in Blockchain as a founding member of @Team Block Society, which is working on setting the standards of international blockchain business. She has a specific interest in how blockchain can help us achieve social impact through financial inclusion, personal data sovereignty and sustainability solutions.
