Marijuana & Satan

Back in the year 2014, Logan and several other law enforcement officers including one of his close partners in the department, Derrick Penney, as well as the former Sheriff and Bakersfield Police Department officer, Patrick Mara, began to conspire in stealing Marijuana seized during criminal investigations.
Derrick and Logan had been partners and best friends for more than 7 years of experience as law enforcers for Kern County Sheriff's Office. Investigation indicates that throughout an 8 month period, the two began abusing their authority. Between the two, they stole marijuana from 10 different operation busts. They later went off to sell and distribute 25 lbs of what they stole through a third party and informant whom Logan had work with in the past. The two made more than $15,000. [undefined]
In another instance, between June and October 2014, August and Penney used their KCSO-issued keys to gain access to the KCSO marijuana storage unit.
They cut off the tops from the plants which is considered the most valuable part and stole them.
It amounted to about eight pounds of usable marijuana, which was given to the informant.
August then provided co-conspirators Penney and former Bakersfield Police Detective Mara with a portion of the proceeds and from the sale of that marijuana.
He kept $1,200 for himself.
On May 15th, 2017, he was arrested and pleaded guilty at the federal courthouse in Fresno after their crimes were uncovered last month.
Days before, on May 7th, 2017 Logan apologized in a recorded video message for his actions, and mentioned that Satan was “playing games” with his mind.
He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute marijuana.
They have agreed to forfeit any money they earned from the trafficking operation.
August and Penney face up to five years in prison.
