Leah Joy Smith was a 16-year-old from Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. She had two older brothers and one older sister. [3]
Leah was a junior at Belle Vernon Area High School and was taking Cosmetology classes at the Central Westmoreland Career and Technology Center. She aspired to be a Hairdresser and move to Los Angeles, California to open her own salon. [2]
Death
On December 15th at around 9:30 am, Smith lost control of her 2010 Honda Civic when it bounced off a curb at the 500 block of Salem Church Road in Rostraver. The vehicle hit a tree and Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. [2]
The school was on a two-hour delay due to cold weather.
Smith was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
