Leah Elizabeth Brown was an American graduate of Bishop Miege High School. ^{[3] [4] [0]}

Brown had been home in Shawnee, Kansas on medical leave from basic training at the U.S. Navy boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois, and planned to return there later this fall. ^{[4] [3]}

At Bishop Miege High School, Brown played varsity soccer, basketball and volleyball.

She enjoyed sports and was very supportive of her younger brother Anthony Brown, who plays football at Butler County Community College. ^{[4] [3]}

Brown was employed at Lifetime Fitness in Lenexa, Kansas in the child center. She loved children and she was loved by the children. ^{[3] [4]}

On October 1, 2017, Brown was one of three people killed when gunfire erupted shortly after 1:30 a.m. in a crowd of people at 11th Street and Massachusetts Street in Lawrence, Kansas. ^{[3] [4]}

Leah Brown had been shot once in the side of her chest from a stray bullet.
