Lauren Shippen Harrington is a writer, voice artist, and actress.

She is located in Los Angeles and New York. ^[0]She is best known for creating and writing the science fiction podcast called The Bright Sessions.

Shippen attended The College of William and Mary. She graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor's degree in Music. ^[4]While attaining her degree she studied abroad at the University of Manchester to study British Politics, Literature, and History. ^[4]

Since 2015, Shippen has been a professional actress and singer.

In October 2015, Lauren Shippen created The Bright Sessions, an science fiction podcast that follows a group of therapy patients. ^[18]In addition, each patient has a supernatural ability.

Shippen said her idea for the project was somewhat inspired by radio series *Welcome to Night Vale * and BBC's *Cabin Pressure *. Lauren Shippen was listening to these shows while stuck in L.A. traffic and fell in love with the idea of audio drama. While talking out loud to herself in what turned into the character of Sam. After realizing that Sam needed someone to talk to, she created a number of characters and turned her idea into a podcast. ^[18]

It has been recognized for its LGBTQ+ representation and covering mental health issues. ^[12]

In July 2017, it was announced that Bright Sessions would be adapted into a television series with Dark Horse Entertainment and Universal Cable Productions. ^[19]
