Prank

In March 2020, Australian comedian, Lewis Spears, tried to prank ABC News. Spears pretended to be a famous fashion photographer and managed to trick Lana Zak into doing an impromptu photoshoot in front of Los Angeles's famous Pink Wall. He claimed that the reporter was there to do a story about him. At the beginning of the 8-minute video, which he released, Spears says the following:

In this video I will show you how I tricked American news network, Nightline, into doing a fake story on a fake photographer, and broadcasting that fake story nationwide.[7]

Armed with a compact camera, Spears paid a visit to the iconic Paul Smith pink wall on Melrose Avenue. He was there not as comedian Lewis Spears, but "Clive Palmer," a famous fashion photographer that has photos featured in Vogue Australia. Spears managed to get himself in front of the news camera for an interview with Zak. His expert insights were so compelling that he even got Zak to pose for his camera and bite into an onion. A few seconds of Spears' interview aired in the Nightline segment to a national audience in the US on September 20, 2019.[8]

Personal Life

Zak was born in Korea and raised in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Zak and Andrew met in Chicago, at a summer debate program at Northwestern University. Both were about to enter their senior year of high school - Andrew at The Bronx High School of Science and Zak at Bettendorf High School in Iowa - and both were officers of their school debate team. They had one face-to-face debate, on America's China policy, and she won hands down.[6]

She and Andrew stayed in touch.

That May, Andrew won $1,000 in a debate competition and then flew to Iowa to take Zak to her senior prom.

Their long-distance romance continued as Zak entered the University of Iowa, and Andrew entered Brown University. When Zak won a Fulbright scholarship to South Korea, Andrew followed for what was to be a two-week visit. He stayed for eight months. And while on a trip to Ulleungdo off the eastern Korean coast, the ancestral island home of Zak's mother's family, they became engaged.[6]

Zak and Andrew have three children together.
