At approximately 11 a.m. on January 5th, 2017, Villanueva's father in law, Eustorgio Arellano-Uresti, arrived home to make himself some lunch.
As he went into the kitchen and began his preparations, Vilanueva entered the kitchen and grabbed a knife.
Which she took back to her bedroom, which is then when Arellano-Uresti heard the cries of a child.
In the bedroom, Vilanueva was stabbing her 5 year-old daughter, Giovanna Larae Hernandez.
Villanueva then went back into the kitchen and proceeded to stab Arellano-Uresti in his back and forearm.
Arrellano-Uresti ran outside where he was chased by Villlanueva with an unloaded shotgun. Neighbors in the area witnessed as Arellano-Uresti ran outside with Villanueva, not far behind, attempting to continue the assault. Villanueva had been living with Arellano Uresti for approximately one week
Villanueva returned back into the home where this heinous crime was committed.
The SWAT team was called, along with several local police officers, to the home. When they arrived they found Villanueva finishing a shower, and witnessed her daughter stabbed to death in the bedroom. Villanueva was detained and removed from the home.
