In the Summer between her sophomore and junior year, Kina Repp and her girlfriend decided to head out to Alaska to find work that would help pay for her college tuition.

The plan was to make money and be part of a great Alaskan adventure.

Three days after settling into a dorm in South Naknek, Kina’s persistence enabled her to gain employment at an Alaskan fish cannery.

She was tasked with cleaning the conveyor belts used in the fish cannery operation.

Excitedly responding to a foreman’s orders for someone to clean a large conveyor belt, Kina literally ran over and then quickly responded to the foreman’s next order to “make sure you get underneath.”
