Kate del Castillo is a Mexican actress who has gained notoriety for brokering a meeting between Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman and actor Sean Penn, which inadvertently lead to the eventual re-capturing of El Chapo.

In October of 2015, El Chapo recruited Castillo, due to her outspoken support of El Chapo, to broker an interview between him and Sean Penn about a possible movie revolving around his life. This led El Chapo lawyers to directly contact her asking for her address so Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman could send her flowers personally. According to various Mexican officials, Castillo's meetings are what eventually led to the capture of El Chapo. ^[1]

Castillo has also been outspoken in numerous fields, in early November, Castillo spoke out against sending puppy's to puppy mills.

Castillo has also pursued numerous business ventures, she recently announced her intent to launch a new brand of tequila.

Politically, Castillo has also been extremely active.

After receiving her U.S Citizenship, Castillo blasted Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump. Castillo tweeted, "I have a voice and do not support you or your animal killer son."
