Ka5sh (born January 7, 1992) is a professional meme-maker and rapper based in Los Angeles, California. Since late 2016, Ka5sh has been making memes as his full-time job and has been covered in the press, including NBC News.

Ka5sh originally hails from Fayetteville, North Carolina and was always considered a "weirdo" by his peers. He tried to start rapping under the name Kash Ketchum, but did not receive much traction. He changed his name to Ka5sh after watching the movie Band Slam. Vanessa Hudgens character's name was "5am" (pronounced "Sam") and the 5 was silent. Ka5sh found a liking to the uniqueness of the silent "5," so he added it in the middle of his moniker.

Ka5sh's next move was forming a punk-trap rap group Weirdo.

The group's avant-garde style had a good run but reached a limit due to the number of people in the area interested in their sound. Ka5sh tried to organize the art scene in the Fayetteville area and called the movement "Trash Mountain."

Before making memes became his profession, Ka5sh worked as an appliance salesman.

He would make memes in his free time, but was still extremely bored with life.

After his van broke down and his girlfriend broke up with him, Ka5sh sold everything he owned and in April 2016, flew out to LA with only $300 in his pocket.

He funded his trip by selling "Supreme Witch Pussy" T-shirts.

Along with making memes, Ka5sh also makes music and freelances making content for clients.

It started off with a tweet in October 2016 asking his followers for a gig.

His first client was Mad Decent and from there, he learned how the meme making industry worked. Ka5sh began to attract more clients through word of mouth about his talents and was soon able just to make a living creating meme related content. Ka5sh is one of several people in charge of the No Jumper Twitter account.

Ka5sh's work has been featured in various meme art shows in Los Angeles.

His first successful curation was called "By Any Memes Necessary" and took place at the Hollywood art-space 'Welcome to Junior High."

In July, he hosted "Peaches: A Black Internet Experience," where he aimed to showcase what it's like being black and on the internet and change non-black assumptions of black culture.

The event is named Peaches to pay homage to Peaches Monroe who created the term "Eyebrows on Fleek."

Ka5sh is a rapper and released the Ka5sh EP in March 2017. His music is produced by Yung Skrrt and he cites DRAM and Lil Yachty as influences on the project. He released a music video for his most popular song to date, "I'm Depressed," on June 30th, 2017.

Ka5sh defines a meme as him "taking a situation that has happened to him or that I’ve observed and since he can’t figure out a way to talk about it in a way that people would understand, he would make a meme out of it."

A meme is a form a content that is relatable as a mass scale and if it is viral enough, is replicated into new varieties over time.
