Jonny Cota (35 years old) is an American fashion designer and reality TV personality. He is best known for being a cast member on the reality series for fashion designers; 'Making The Cut'.[1]
Early Life & Education
Jonny Cota was raised in Martinez, California. He completed his schooling at Alhambra High School. He was the recipient of the Chamber of Commerce Young Man of the Year award for his community service in 2001. Jonny is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he obtained a degree in Journalism. [2]
He expressed gratitude towards his teachers in High school at Alhambra in the following words:
“Once I was in high school at Alhambra I became more comfortable and confident in my freaky side and channeled that into being a very outgoing student.
My Alhambra drama teachers Ms. Bonjean-Colman and Mr. Weiner really helped me turn that that weakness into my strength and live my life more proudly.

Career
Early Career
Jonny joined an underground performance-art troupe 'vaudeville' as a stilt walker and fire dancer to pursue his creative dreams.
He developed an interest in fashion seeing troupe's impressive costumes.
Founder of SKINGRAFT
In 2006, He partnered with his brother Christopher Cota and founded SkinGraft in Los Angeles, California. Its design collections are influenced by seasonal trends, modern music and lifestyle-driven subcultures. It has seen rapid growth since its creation. Johnny has opened three more stores in L.A and New York since then.
Skingraft has been popular among pop stars like Rhianna, Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Kid Cudi, Missy Elliott, Ciara, Wiz Khalifa, The Black Eyed Peas Experience, Marilyn Manson, Britney Spears and many more.[3]
In 2019, Skingraft wrapped up its retail business and launched a new multi-brand retail space in downtown Los Angeles called 'Cota.' Their own brand Jonny Cota, is set to launch in Spring of 2020.[1]
Making The Cut
Jonny Cota is participating in the Amazon Original Reality TV show 'Making The Cut' season 1.[10] His progress has improved episode by episode.
He won the 4th episode challenge 'Fight for your Life' so far.
Judges Naomi Campbell, Nicole Richie, Joseph Altuzarra, Carine Roitfeld and Chiara Ferragni have been impressed with his skills so far. [17]

Jonny lives in Los Angeles, California and handles operations regarding Skingraft. He got married to Frank Helmer in 2014. [6] He is active on Instagram and has around 12.4k followers till date.[4] His venture Skingraft has around 40k followers.[5]
