Jonathan Morales was a 23-year-old from Franklin Park, Illinois. [1]
Life and Activities
Morales grew up in Franklin Park and went on to attend East Leyden High School. After graduating, Morales went to college and most recently was enrolled at the University of Illinois where his major was communications. [1] He is a huge fan of Chicago sports and culture and regularly bolstered his appreciation for the Chicago Bulls and Chance the Rapper. In his free time, Morales enjoyed traveling, hitting the gym, and going to music festivals and raves. Jon is remembered for being a committed individual who was always there for his friends. He was remembered for his festive personality. He hosted parties for his friends visiting.
Racheal Romo, who said she was Morales' aunt, set up a GoFundMe page Saturday to help cover the cost of Morales' funeral services.
Romo wrote that Morales was "a wonderful, happy spirited young man who loved dancing and music" who was "a friend to many."
Death
On the evening of March 3rd, Jon was at a party on East John Street celebrating U of I's unofficial St. Patrick's Day when he fell off a balcony.
Jon was treated by paramedics at the scene before being transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead by examiners.
Jonathan Morales died after falling off a fourth-floor balcony at this apartment complex in Champaign March 3, 2017.
An autopsy was performed Saturday by Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup, and the fall initially was believed to have been an accident, police said.
Morales was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The death was related with alcohol consumption.
