Joey Julius is the starting kicker for Penn State.

Julius was born in Milwaukee and grew up in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania.

He attended Lower Dauphin High School and played soccer and football.

While he was offered a scholarship for soccer at Southern Illinois University, he ultimately decided to be a walk-on for the Penn State Nittany Lions Football Team.

Julius was redshirted his freshman season.

During his sophomore year, he started all 11 games and earned the accolade of BTN.com All-Freshman Team.

^[2]Julius quickly became a fan favorite due to his size, spirit, and ability to make big hits.

On October 3rd, Julius revealed on his Facebook that his absence during spring ball was due to him getting treatment for his binge eating disorder at McCallum Place in [[LINK|lang_en|St._Louis|St.

Louis]] from May 9th to July 26th.
