Jimmy Vielkind is an American Journalist based in Albany, New York.
He is Albany bureau chief for POLITICO.
Education
Vielkind graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelor's degree in Urban studies in 2007.
He went on to attend SUNY Albany receiving a Master's degree in urban and regional planning in 2012.
Career
He has been reporting on state government and politics since 2008, first as a correspondent for the New York Observer and later for the Albany Times Union.
[1]Vielkind also covered breaking news and Brooklyn for the New York Daily News while a college student, and spent his first year after graduation as the nighttime police reporter for the Times Union Center.
At POLITICO, Vielkind coordinates the largest bureau at the Capitol and reports and writes articles and analyses state politics.
He has been a regular contributor to POLITICO New York's magazine and a frequent guest on radio and television programs, including public broadcasting's New York Now, WNYC's Brian Lehrer Show, WCBS 880-AM and Time Warner Cable News' Capital Tonight.
Personal Life
He lives with his wife and two daughters in New York.
