Jerry DeLemus
Jerry DeLemus
Jerry DeLemus is a conservative political activist from New Hampshire.
Jerry is currently in jail awaiting trial for helping to orchestrate a high-profile 2014 armed standoff in Oregon.
Jerry is one of 14 people arrested last week in the confrontation at Cliven Bundy's Nevada ranch.
DeLemus co-chairs the New Hampshire "Veterans for Trump" coalition organized by Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
Nineteen people, including Cliven Bundy and his 2 sons, have been indicted in the case brought by Nevada federal prosecutors.
The charges stem from a standoff that began when federal agents seized Bundy's cattle over unpaid grazing fees.
Militia groups rallied to Bundy's defense, and the government eventually released the cattle it had seized, citing a desire to avoid violence.
DeLemus is considered was too dangerous to be released while he awaits trial because he has access to a lot of weapons.
DeLemus' attorney, however, says DeLemus is law-abiding and devoutly religious, and that he had sought to bring a peaceful resolution to the standoff.
DeLemus drew national media attention in June 2015 when he proposed holding a contest to draw Muhammad, the prophet in Islam.
