Jerry Chen is a venture capitalist and technology entrepreneur based out of Santa Monica, California.
He is currently with the venture capital firm, Mucker Capital.
Personal Life
Jerry Chen is a polyglot fluent in Chinese, English, French, German, Spanish, and Taiwanese.
He is also the member of multiple academic and business organizations including the, Erasmus Mundus Students and Alumni Association, European Chamber of Commerce, French Chamber of Commerce, German Chamber of Commerce, the InterEurope Alumni / Connect, and World Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce.
Education
Jerry Chen is a graduate of National Tsing Hua University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
While studying at Tsing Hua he received an Academic Achievement Award.
Chen was also awarded the National Tsing-Hua University (NTHU) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) International Exchange Student Scholarship which is awarded to the top eight students.
He studied abroad at the University of Stuttgart.
Chen graduated from the École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay with a master's degree in Molecular Photonics for Biotechnology and Nanotechnology.
He was awarded a full Erasmus Mundus Scholarship by the European Commission.
Chen was a delegate of Erasmus Mundus Master Program “Monabiphot”.
He has also studied at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and pursued Photonic Crystal Fiber research at the Max Planck Society.
Chen has a Master of Business Administration in General Management and Entrepreneurship from the Collège des Ingénieurs.
He was one of the top 80 fellows from around the world who were recruited by the business school and received a salary from leading companies while in the program.
Career
From 2006-2007, Chen was a Researcher at National Taiwan University.
As a researcher, he conducted a national biochip research project with 60 members.
He also lead a market survey of long-distance real-time learning among Taiwanese universities.
Chen worked as a Business Consultant at Air Liquide in France from 2008-2009.
He was in charge of the project management of innovative equipment development for electronic assembly application.
He was responsible for the global marketing research of this development project in the electronics industry and energy industry.
Chen was also involved in cross-functional coordination among the development, sales, and marketing teams.
From 2009-2016, Chen worked in Global Strategy at Bayer in Germany, Taiwan, and China.
In this role, he worked on global and regional strategy development and implementation, mergers and acquisitions, organizational consolidation, technology portfolio management, innovation management, co-producer, and partnership.
He consulted on Bayer's supply chain operating model, IT strategy and organization, corporate finance, and human resources.
Chen also worked in marketing and sales focusing on launching new medicines, customer facing excellence in the global healthcare business, and hospital sales.
In 2015, Chen founded JC, a smart digital health company where he worked until 2017.
In 2018, Chen joined Mucker Capital, a seed-stage venture fund investing in digital technology companies.
