Personal
Jero Medina
Jero highlights that joining "Narcos: Mexico" and playing as a DEA agent has allowed him to have a more extensive view of violence and its consequences, not only from the interpretative perspective, as he is submerged in constant scenes of action.
As a citizen and Mexican, Jero questions why Mexico is kept in state of insecurity and uncertainty: [4]
“This topic is very sensitive and this has helped me as a citizen and Mexican to understand more deeply how all this started in Mexico, what aspects of that time continue to haunt us today.
I can't say that the character sticks with me, we do our work that is not emotionally deep as other characters required.
This is giving information, carrying out the story to report what happened then to give us an idea of how we are doing right now.
” [4]
He points out that in spite of the fact that this sort of content is now increasingly available to children, for him it is important that close adults explain the context of these stories to younger viewers as to have a reasonable, respectful and delicate vision when dealing with violence: [4]
“I would begin by explaining what violence is and its different types.
Many people, I think, especially because of the amount of violence we see, are not aware of the degree of violence that exists, from the verbal to the physical and psychological; Then he would explain the history of our country and what is happening at the moment.
It is not a series that glorifies drug traffickers, it does show how they lived, what they do and their power, but in my opinion it is a series that gives more information, glorifying is not their way."
Netflix’s 'Narcos: Mexico' Season
Narcos: Mexico
Jero once again give life to the DEA agent, Ossie Mejia in the second season of Narcos: México.
Addressing the political and social conflicts that the country has regarding drug trafficking from the acting point of view must carry with it a very clear responsibility: "Do not exalt or normalize the characters that cause violence," said Jero Medina.
Pending the debut on February 13 through Netflix, Jero Medina reflects on the impact that "Narcos: Mexico" has had when uncovering a series that, albeit dependent on genuine occasions, taking as a reference the characters that brought forth to different drug cartels, the story starring Diego Luna adds touches of fiction to lighten the nature of the theme.
