On Wednesday, January 10, 2018 Jennifer Rose Ingram was charged with three counts of rape, two counts of sodomy and one count of furnishing a controlled substance to a minor, said Sheriff Joe Sedinger. Sheriff’s office reports showed the drug was marijuana. Ingram was in the Autauga Metro Jail under bonds totaling $65,000, jail records show. Reporters could not reach Ingram for comment and court records show she doesn’t have an attorney. [1]
It’s unusual having a woman charged with rape, Sedinger said.
“It does happen, but not very often,” he said.
“In this case she was charged due to the age of the young man.
Even if the acts were consensual, he can’t legally give consent because he is under 16.” [1]
According to court documents, Ingram admitted to investigators that on several occasions during November and December, she had a sexual relationship with a child she knew to be 13 years old.
On at least one occasion, Ingram said the victim consumed some of her prescription medication and an alcoholic beverage during a visit at her residence. Ingram also told investigators that she purchased illegal narcotics for the two of them.
Ingram and the mother of the victim know one another, the sheriff said.
A witness told the victim’s mother that he had allegedly walked in and caught Ingram and the victim having sex at Ingram’s home, sheriff reports show.
The witness told the victim’s mother.
The mother confronted the boy and he allegedly admitted to the relationship, the reports read.
