Jehan Chu

Jehan Chu

Jehan Chu is a blockchain enthusiast and and art adviser based in Hong Kong. [1] He is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Kenetic Capital. [1]

Early Life and Education

Chu is originally from Randolph, New Jersey and graduated from the Westtown School. [1] He attended The Johns Hopkins University and earned a B.A. in international relations in 1998.

Career

Art

Chu started his career as a Web Developer at Extra Active.

He moved to Hong Kong to become the Head of Client Development at the auction house Sotheby's. In 2009, he joined the Zurich Asia Auction House as an Auctioneer. Around the same time, he became the Director at the Vermillion Art Collections and helped private and corporate collectors assemble and manage collections of fine art and art assets and investments.

Chu is currently the Vice Chairman of the contemporary art centre Para Site and is on the Board of Directors of Design Trust which provides Design and Architecture projects grants in the Pearl River Delta region, including Hong Kong and Macau.

Blockchain

Chu first invested in Bitcoin in 2013 at $200. Since the price has increased dramatically, Chu quit his job to start a venture capital firm focused on investing in blockchain technology, Kenetic Capital. Along with be a Founding Member of The Bitcoin Association of Hong Kong, Chu is the Founder of Ethereum Hong Kong and has nurtured the Etherum community there since March 2014. He grew membership from 5 members to 1,100 members and has hosted over 60 Blockchain events including Ethereum Founder Vitalik Buterin 7 times.
