Jason Seaman (born September 6, 1988) is a 7th grade Science Teacher at Noblesville West Middle School in Noblesville, Indiana. On Friday, May 25, 2018 he tackled a school shooter and swatted the shooter's gun away possibly saving many others from being injured or killed.
Biography
Early Life
Jason Seaman grew up in Mahomet, Illinois and was a three-sport high school athlete according to this brother, Jeremy Seaman. Jason Seaman tore his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) playing basketball in his junior year, but after several surgeries he was back playing football in August, his brother said. Jason Seaman is the son of Kristi Seaman.
“He’s familiar with struggle and adversity,” his brother, who now lives in Arizona, said.
Personal Life

Jason Seaman is married and has two young children a son who is a toddler and a daughter who is one-month old as of May 2018 according to his brother, Jeremy Seaman.
Education
Jason Seaman graduated from Southern Illinois University (SIU) Carbondale in Carbondale, Illinois with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Teaching in 2011. Seaman played Defensive End for the Southern Illinois Salukis Football Team from 2007-10.
Head SIU football coach Nick Hill who played a season with Jason Seaman said, "He was a great teammate, one of the team's hardest workers. You could always trust him to do the right thing."
Career
Jason Seaman is currently a 7th grade Science Teacher for Noblesville West Middle School. He has worked for the Noblesville Schools District since July 2014. He also has been a head football coach for seventh-graders for two years.
Jacon Long a student who was coached by Jason Seaman while playing for football and track and field said,
“He’s a good coach and a good teacher, an all-around good guy.”
Noblesville West Middle School Shooting
On the morning of Friday, May 25, 2018 a student began shooting inside Noblesville West Middle School.
Jason Seaman tackled shooter and swatted away his gun stopping the shooting.
During the shooting Seaman was shot in the was shot three times with bullets hitting him in the abdomen, hip and forearm.
A 13-year-old girl was also hit during the shooting.
His mother, Kristi Seaman said he is out of surgery and doing well.
Lindsey Hall, who was Seaman’s middle-school principal before becoming superintendent of the Mahomet-Seymour school district, said it was not surprising that Seaman "rose to the occasion" Friday morning.
“It’s no surprise that Jason would put forth heroic efforts,” she said.
“He’s been a person of character and integrity his whole life."
