Dr. Janet Taylor is a clinical instructor of psychiatry at Columbia University at Harlem Hospital.

She is on the front line battling the emotional and economic impact of mental illness.

Education

Dr. Taylor attended the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky for Undergraduate and Medical School. She attained her master's degree in Public Health at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. [1]

Career

Dr. Taylor initially had an internship in Internal Medicine at the Miriam Hospital. Later, her psychiatric residency was completed at New York Medical College-Westchester Medical Center.

While living in Vancouver, British Columbia, Dr. Taylor practiced community psychiatry at Greater Vancouver Mental Health. Dr. Taylor is a consumer health strategist and certified life coach. Her company, Mind Projects, Inc., specializes in corporate stress management and consumer health strategies. [1]

Dr. Taylor is a frequently invited to speak on the topics of Minority Health, Stress Management, Parenting and Work-Life Balance.

She is a frequent contributor to the CBS “The Early Show,” and NBC “The Today Show” on issues of motherhood and parenting. Dr. Taylor is also a regularly featured on CNN, MSNBC and ABC.com’s regular webcast’, “Mom’s Get Real”, Her column in Family Circle Magazine is titled, “Ask Dr. Janet”. Dr. Taylor will also be featured on two new shows in the fall, Discovery Health/Own- “Facing Trauma” and a syndicated talk show, “The Jeremy Kyle Show”.
