Janell Ross is a reporter from NBC BLK who writes about race, politics and social issues. Her work has been published in The Washington Post and the Huffington Post.[1]
Education
Ross graduated from Vassar College in 1998 with a Bachelor's degree in political science. She went on to attend Columbia University, where she received a Master's degree in journalism.
Career
Ross started her career in 2002 as a reporter at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. In 2004, she became a reporter of City Government Team at The News & Observer. From 2006-2010, she worked as a reporter covering immigration, race and other social issues at The Tennessean.[2]
In 2011, Ross became a senior reporter covering economic issues and race at The Huffington Post. From 2015-2018, she worked as a reporter at The Washington Post.[2]
In 2016-2017, Ross was a National Fellow at New America. She spent her fellowship year writing a book about the racial wealth gap and the truths about its real origins laid bare by the Great Recession. The book will be published by Beacon Press.[4]
