James Savage

James Savage

James Savage is a competitive open water swimmer.

In June 2016 he swam to Alcatraz Island and back in a matter of hours, making him the youngest person to complete this journey. The record was previously held by a 10 year old boy from Sunnyvale, California. [4]

His father incentivized him with $100 but during the trip increased the amount to $200 when James was struggling with the waves hitting him.

[4]

Savage is a rising fifth grader at Mercey Springs Elementary in Los Banos, California. [4]
