The Shasta County District Attorney's Office had asked Flynn to sentence her to 14 years and 4 months in prison, while Jacqueline Herron's defense lawyer had asked that his client be allowed to remain free on probation while she underwent treatment.

"I don't think it can be overstated how vulnerable these victims were," Deputy District Attorney Cody Jones told Flynn during sentencing.

"This is a person who bragged about what she had done," Jones said.

The incidents, which she pled no contest to, occurred while she worked at Victor Youth Services and Alternatives to Violence.

Herron was taken into custody after sentencing.

After her family were led from the courtroom, Herron looked around the courtroom in dismay.

"I don't understand what's happening right now," she said.

"This is a shock."

During the sentencing, a woman read a statement from one of the victims, who called her a "monster" for preying on him when he was vulnerable.

"Pain has become my world," the woman said, reading from the victim's statement.

Herron had sex with one 16-year-old boy in 2015 while working as a therapist intern at Victor Youth Services.

Herron was fired by Victor but she was hired by Alternatives to Violence.

According to police reports, Herron had sex with another 16-year old numerous times in March and April 2016.

Herron's lawyer, Mark Melnick, told Flynn his client should get probation because she pleaded no-contest to the charges and volunteered to undergo treatment, which she had been doing for months.

He said psychiatric evaluations showed Herron was unlikely to commit further crimes against children.

But Jones argued that her crimes were committed against vulnerable youth who held her in a position of trust.

"These were individuals who were troubled, who were desperately in need of help," Jones said.
