Iqram Magdon-Ismail is a Zimbabwe-born technology Entrepreneur resides of New York City. He is now the Founder and CEO of the audio company, Ense Inc.. He is also well known for founding the mobile payments company, Venmo with Andrew Kortina

Iqram was born in Harare, Zimbabwe and lived for thirteen years in different parts of Africa. He then moved with his family to Fairfax County, Virginia where we went to middle school. Iqram then moved to Philadelphia where he went to high school. Iqram is passionate about music, which played a role in his decision to start both Ense Inc. and Venmo. He has also released two pop singles on iTunes, Newborn in 2012 and Big City in 2013. During the 2016 United States Presidential election, Iqram opposed Donald Trump. After Trump won, Iqram bought a home in Dakar, Senegal and contemplated leaving the country.

Iqram studied Computer science at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 2005. It was there that he met and became friends with Andrew Kortina who he would like to start Venmo with. Iqram later returned to the UPenn to give the Penn Engineering Commencement Address in 2017.

Iqram founded Ense Inc. an audio company that develops apps that allow users to easily share their voices and other sounds. He previously co-founded and was the CEO of the mobile payments company, Venmo in 2009. The company was acquired by Braintree (company) for $26.2 million in 2012 before Braintree itself was acquired by PayPal for $800 million the next year.

Prior to Venmo, Iqram served as the Vice President of Technology at the event marketing company, TicketLeap Inc and prior to that was the Head of Technology Efforts & Strategy at TicketLeap Inc. Prior to TicketLeap, he served as a Software developer at the popular social flirting site IILWY which received investment from Y Combinator. Iqram also co-founded My College Post.

Iqram has angel invested in the start-ups, Abacus, Duma Works, Instinct, Swipecast, hellotoken, and SoundScoop. He also invested in the Zagat rated Sri Lankan restaurant Kottu House.
