Illamasqua
Illamasqua
Illamasqua is Make-up and Cosmetic brand that has been been around for almost 20 years but has since become part of High Street in London since 2008. The product of a heady mix of influences; from its roots in the dark and illicit 1920s Berlin club scene, to a rich heritage in the manufacture of make-up for film and theatre, Illamasqua takes it’s inspiration from members of the ‘alternative scenes’ for whom self-expression is paramount. [12]
Developed by leading chemists and manufacturers of stage and screen make-up, and expert make-up artists.
These premium products have been designed to be colour-intense, colour-true and long-lasting.
With an unprecedented number of launch colours, Illamasqua provides consumers and make-up artists with a huge palette of colours to ensure that they have the tools to express themselves.
They are also a Vegan product. [9]
The brand has taken an Anti-fascist pledge due to the rising hate accompanied with the Donald Trump rhetoric and presidency. The company has decided to not remain silent. Since they have no way of knowing if their customers are trump supporters or alt-right people, they have decided to implement a pledge to their customers to be part of their community. The customers must pledge to human fundamentalism values with the following: [9]
Never discriminate against race, colour, nationality, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion
Accept responsibility on challenging social and climate issues
Speak for those who cannot speak up for themselves
Uphold the principles of the S.O.P.H.I.E. charity to stamp out prejudice, intolerance and hatred.
They have asked people that if they don't believe in their pledge or in the ideas of human fundamentalism, that they should not buy their products.
One of the reasonings behind this move by the company is because they took notice that Milo Yiannopolos used their products for his public appearances. [-1]
