Iba Masood is an entrepreneur, business executive, and software engineer. She is the CEO of TARA.AI, a company that surfaces programmers that write code that enhance opportunities for people of color, women, and people who did not graduate from Ivy League schools.

Iba Masood was born an raised in the United Arab Emirates. She attended the American University of Sharjah, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at the age of 20; she had concentrations in Finance and Marketing.

She later attended the University of Pittsburgh on a Hesselbein Global Academy Fellowship. There, she studied International Leadership and Civic Engagement.

In 2012, Iba Masood co-founded TARA.AI

with Syed Ahmed. Initially called Gradberry, their goal was to connect fresh graduates in the Middle East with internships and entry level positions. Eventually, she and her team developed an artificial intelligence platform for recruitment and project management.

The company was eventually accepted to Y Combinator in the Winter of 2015. The company had over 300 customers, including IBM.

In February 2016, Masood transformed Gradberry into TARA.AI (Talent Acquisition and Recruiting Automation) to automate the hiring process for contractors and project managers. The system scopes candidates' past projects, assigns developers with tasks, and monitors progress.

According to Syed Ahmed's co-founder Ibn Masood, they identified that the dominant archetype of programmers hired at places like Silicon Valley tend to be young, White, and alumni of Ivy League universities. With their AI, they prevent the wider pool of coders from being ignored while also allowing the software industry to maintain their pace of growth.

Their clientele consists of various Fortune 500 companies, including Cisco, Ford, and Orange S.A.

As of November 2017, they have $2.5 million in funding and have projections to reach $1.2 million in revenue by the end of the year.

In 2012, Iba Masood was a recipient of the Arabian Business “Young Achiever of the Year” award. Gulf Business named Iba one of the 30 most influential individuals under the age of 30 in the Middle East.

That year, she also received a Cartier Women's Initiative Award. At the age of 22, she was the youngest person to receive the award.

In addition, Iba Masood is a past winner of the MIT Global Business Plan competition.

In 2014, she was a finalist of the MassChallenge in Boston.

In 2015, when Masood's company was named Gradberry, she and her co-founder Syed Ahmed were accepted into Y Combinator's Winter 2015 batch.

In November 2017, Ahmed and his co-founder Iba Masood were selected to be in the 'Enterprise Technology' list of Forbes' 30 Under 30 in 2018.
