Godfrey Motsa is the Chief executive officer of its South Africa unit. Before he was appointed to the CEO post, he served as the VP of the SEA region at the MTN Group.

Godfrey attended the University of Lugano where he holds a Bachelor’s Degree. He also holds an MBA from University of West London.

Godfrey Motsa joining MTN Group has made the company face a serious legal battle against its rival Vodacom. The tussle started in 2016 following the appointment of Godfrey as Vice President of the South and East Africa.

Godfrey Motsa occupied the position of the Vice president of South and East Africa at the MTN Group Limited since 2016.

From 2015 to 2016, he was the Chief Officer of the Consumer Business Unit at Vodacom Group Limited.

He has also occupied many senior roles and positions.

Some notable positions include Managing Director of Vodacom Lesotho and Vodacom Congo.

Vodacom company went ahead to sue MTN Group that Godfrey Motsa appointment is a violation of a signed trade agreement between both companies. MTN Group went ahead to defend its position and said that his appointment by the MTN operation is in the South & East region excluding South Africa.
